Kombucha is a fermented tea. Not fermented in the sense of alcohol (alcohol content is negligible), but more like kefir or yogurt.
Kombucha is a tart beverage. Think grapefruit juice or cranberry juice (not cranberry cocktail). It is slightly effervescent and sweetness varies depending on flavor. Fruit flavors such as Strawberry Basil and Blackberry are a little sweeter. It is not due to added sugar. Fruits just bring their own sugar to the table. The herbal flavors such as Hibiscus Citrus and Ginger are less sweet.
Serving Size of Mad Scientist Kombucha is smaller than grocery store brands. Suggested Serving Size is 4 to 6 ounces. 4 ounces is your half cup measuring cup. Anything after that is for funzies. I do tell people to listen to your body. If you system isn't used to a strong probiotic you may experience an initial cleansing effect if you consume too much.
You can drink Mad Scientist Kombucha any time of day, but you can maximize what you want out of it, by consuming at specific times.
For overall health benefit, FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. Wait about 15 minutes and then continue your normal routine (breakfast, coffee, etc.) Overnight you have fasted and consuming first thing in the morning allows the beneficial bacteria to seed better where it needs to be.
To help with blood sugar management, ABOUT 10 MINUTES BEFORE A MEAL helps your body process the food more efficiently, breaking down the food into more manageable pieces.
Anytime you need energy. The B vitamins, amino acids, and organic compounds all naturally contribute to a boost of energy. For some this may be in the morning, others need it to get over that afternoon slump.
As a pre- or post-workout aid consume a serving ABOUT 15 MINUTES BEFORE OR AFTER A WORKOUT to help replace the energy used up and replenish your amino acids and send them to where you need them.
Mad Scientist Kombucha strives to produce a low-sugar kombucha. In doing so, we start with less sugar in the recipe and do a longer first fermentation. This longer first fermentation consumes more of the sugar AND increases the culture count. It is a win-win. Instead of having to consume 8 to 16 ounces of mainstream kombucha, you get that same benefit in just 4 ounce. This also makes your pennies go further. A 32 ounce jar of Mad Scientist Kombucha contains 8 servings!
