Heather Van Tassell is the actual scientist behind Mad Scientist Kombucha. Member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2006 with a B.S. in Genetics, she combines her passion for science and cooking along with her desire for gut health to create the kombucha brewery, Mad Scientist Kombucha.
After years of struggling with digestive issues, Heather found relief in kombucha. The problem was, she didn't really like the sugar loaded products on the market. Not to mention it didn't taste all that great. But it worked.
After deciding to try to make it herself, Heather discovered that kombucha can really taste good. And it doesn't have to be filled with sugar. After making it for her personal use and sharing with friends and family for awhile, friends finally convinced her to sell it.

John Van Tassell introduced the Mad Scientist to her first glass of kombucha many years ago. He was frequently found shopping at local farmers markets and quite the kale connoisseur. He excels in his role as Master Tea Brewer and is a top salesman. Now married, this husband and wife team bring the best, freshest kombucha to the Houston area.
